When a translation gets declined
Translation refusals are almost always false stops: the filter reads the source text and not the task. Naming the document type, saying that the text is a quotation, and asking for a literal rendering usually settles it, because all 3 add context the classifier lacked.
The awkward part of translation is that the input contains whatever the input contains. A filter reading it cannot tell a case file from an intention, and the safe choice for the operator is to stop.

Name the document
Court transcript, medical discharge summary, police report, dialogue in a novel. The type explains why the wording is there, and it is the single most effective addition. Without it the filter sees only the wording, which is the part that scored.
Mark the quotation explicitly
Say that the passage below is quoted material to be rendered, not written. The classifier cannot see quotation marks as a boundary, and it can read a sentence saying so. This costs 1 line and changes the input the scorer receives.
Ask for literal, then for natural
A literal rendering keeps the register of the source, including its bluntness, which is exactly what a legal or medical text needs. Asking for a natural version afterwards gives you both, and it makes clear that the first was not a stylistic choice.
Where the line actually is
None of the above is a way around a real limit. Material involving minors is refused regardless of framing, on any service worth using and here. The techniques above address false stops on legitimate work, and that distinction is the whole point of them.
Questions a buyer asks
Does splitting the text help?
Sometimes, because a shorter passage scores lower. It also loses the context that made the passage translatable, so it is worth trying after the 3 steps above rather than instead of them.
Is a literal translation always better here?
For legal and medical work, usually yes, because register carries meaning. For fiction, the natural version is the deliverable and the literal version is the check.
What about slang and profanity?
Naming the target register explicitly works better than asking for accuracy: say whether the profanity should stay at full strength, be softened, or be marked.
